Covid Tracking & Positive Case Notifications for 2021-2022
Student and Staff COVID-19 Tracking
Based on guidance from both the Department of Public Health (DPH) and the West Hartford/Bloomfield Health District, any West Hartford Public School staff member or student who is confirmed positive for the COVID-19 virus will be isolated at home. As of February 28, 2022, we will no longer be contact tracing in the school setting. We will continue to update the dashboard daily with the individual school cases and continue to review data with our Health District. Anyone who is a close contact to a positive case in your home or community will need to quarantine to avoid potential spread. Please contact your school nurse for any question.
About the data:
-
These numbers include any student or staff who we have been informed are either COVID-19 positive or under quarantine, regardless of if their exposure was at a West Hartford school. For privacy concerns, the student and staff numbers are combined.
-
This data will be updated daily (Monday - Friday) by 12:00pm. Cases are posted on the tracker the day after public notification.
-
Cases are removed when the individual is cleared to return to school or work.

We have consulted with the West Hartford/Bloomfield Health District and have determined it is acceptable to change our quarantine period to align with the recent changes to the CT Department of Public Health guidance. Starting tomorrow, 10/9, we will implement the 7 day quarantine recommendation, and will update the dashboard to reflect this. This will mean an unvaccinated student who is a direct contact to a covid positive individual and asymptomatic will be allowed to shorten the 10 day quarantine to 7 days. The student will need to provide a lab documented negative covid test performed on day 5 or later from the last date of COVID exposure. They can then return to school on day 8. More information on WHPS resources and health screening can be found on our COVID-19 Dashboard or by contacting your school directly and speak with the School Nurse or the Principal.

Dear West Hartford Community,
As we head into the holiday break, I wanted to thank you all for your support of our schools and community, and for your role in helping to keep everyone healthy and safe. To provide our nursing and administrative staff with a well-deserved break, we will not be available for contact tracing over the holiday break, except for students participating in high school athletics. Any positive cases for athletes should be reported to their coach who will work with the athletic director and staff to identify any close contacts.
Please report any positive cases in your family to the West Hartford/Bloomfield Health District at 860-561-7900, and also inform your student’s principal and nurse via email or phone. All cases will be followed up when nurses and staff return on January 3rd. We appreciate your support as our health and administrative teams will be spending this time to relax and connect with their families.
Working with the West Hartford/Bloomfield Health District, our nurses and administrative staff have established timelines for the return of students who are currently under quarantine. If your student tests positive for Covid-19 on December 24th, they would be able to return to school on Tuesday, January 4th, assuming they no longer have symptoms, and you would be contacted by staff prior to that date.
