Library Media Center

The Bugbee Library Media Center was renovated and re-opened on May 12, 2004. We have over 15,000 volumes, 200 educational videos, and magazines available for in-school use. At Bugbee, we continue to integrate technology in the classroom to support student achievement. We have two mobile laptop labs, a Chromebook mobile lab for the upper grades, a set of iPads for use in the classroom and a computer lab in the LMC that has desktop and laptop computers, allowing us to accommodate whole classes for instruction.

The Bugbee LMC operates with a fixed schedule – classes in grades K-5 come to the library one time per week for 1 hour. Ms. Nascimento supports the CCSS English Language Arts units in collaboration with the grade level teams. The library hour is used flexibly to support literacy lessons, read alouds, book talks, student collaboration, proficiency with technology tools, digital citizenship and information literacy. In addition, each student has the opportunity to check out library books and build responsibility as a library patron. The LMC is a busy place where students can be seen working in small groups, collaborating on research, discussing literature and reading. Classroom teachers will at times co-teach with Ms. Nascimento to support technology and research lessons. We also have an amazing, dedicated group of parent volunteers that help keep our library organized!

Check Out Guidelines

Kindergarten students check out one book at a time. In order to get a new book, they need to have returned the last book they took out.

Students in grade 1 begin the year taking out one book at a time and then mid year students can check two books out at a time.

Students in grade 2-3 may check out two books at a time.

Students in grades 4 and 5 may borrow three books at a time.

All students are allowed to have books out for a period of 2 weeks. We encourage students to return books in a timely manner so that the books are available to other students. Books can be returned during their assigned library time, or throughout the week during Open Book Selection. All students can return and check out books any morning from 8:35-9 am. We are able to reserve books as well as renew them, thanks to our computerized circulation and catalog system.
