COVID Guidance - West Hartford Bloomfield Health Board

Every morning before you send your child to school please check the following:

  1. Does your child have a fever 100 degrees or greater?

  2. Does your child have a headache or any other symptoms of COVID-19?

3. Was your unvaccinated child in close contact* with anyone confirmed with COVID-19 within the last 2 weeks?

If the answer is YES to any of these questions, DO NOT send your student to school. Instead follow quarantine protocols for your child and contact your healthcare provider as well as your school. Strongly consider COVID-19 testing per West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District guidance.

If anyone in your home has been tested for COVID-19 (excluding routine screening) or is symptomatic, DO NOT send your unvaccinated child to school until the results have been received.

A fully vaccinated child may attend school after contact with a COVID-19 positive person or while a household member is waiting for the results of testing, as long as the vaccinated child does not have any COVID-19 symptoms. In this case we strongly urge parents follow the CDC recommendations:

  • Receive a COVID-19 test (PCR preferred) within 3-5 days after last contact

  • Remain masked in public for at least 14 days from last contact

  • Monitor the child for symptoms and retest immediately if symptoms develop

It is very important that we all take care of each other as we are one West Hartford community. A large part of this is keeping your child home if they are sick. If you have questions about your child’s health or the health of anyone in your family, please contact your school directly and speak with the School Nurse or the Principal.
