Summer Reading

Each Spring, the WHPS library media department collaborates with the West Hartford Public Libraries to create a summer reading program. Despite the current challenges, this year is no exception.  While access to printed books may be a bit more difficult, the West Hartford Public Library also provides free access to a variety of online reading resources. If you do not have a library card and are a West Hartford Public Schools student, fill out this form with a PERSONAL email address.  After they process it, you will receive a temporary library number that you can use to access the online resources available in Libby, RB Digital, and Hoopla. In addition, check out your elementary school's library media center webpage for more information on summer reading.

Elementary Schools' Summer Reading at the West Hartford Public Library: Imagine your story

This summer we are encouraging students to sign up for ReadSquared, our electronic summer reading platform:  http://westhartfordlibrary.readsquared.com/

Using ReadSquared, students can log in the books they read during the summer. It can be accessed on any computer or mobile device. Students can earn points by reading chapter books, picture books, eBooks or listening to audio books. They can also earn points playing games and completing missions. Families who wish to use paper logs may do so and bring these logs to their children’s new teacher in September.

Access their website http://www.westhartfordlibrary.org/children for more information.

If you are looking for ideas for things to read, please see these lists from last year or ask a librarian for suggestions!
