What We Do
The work of the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction will continue to focus on research, planning, designing curriculum, implementing programs to enhance teaching and learning, and evaluating programs to determine their effectiveness. With the Connecticut Achievement and Performance Test (CAPT) for high schools and the Connecticut Mastery Tests (CMT) for elementary and middle schools, the district will continue to focus on aligning curriculum to the national and state standards, local assessment standards, and foundation objectives.
Services We Provide: The Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction provides leadership for curriculum development, instructional improvement and program assessment. The Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction also coordinates the district professional development program and the district testing/evaluation program; participates in the staffing of schools and department supervisors; develops instructional budgets; assists the Superintendent in the supervision of principals; supervises district wide department supervisors of teaching and assessment, fine and performing arts, health/physical education and technology; and co-supervises all other department supervisors.
