SMITH AWARDED TOSHIBA GRANT
Kathy Hardesty, a Quest teacher at the Smith School of Science, Math & Technology has received a Science and Math Improvement Grant from the Toshiba America Foundation for "Learning With Motion".
The $790 in grant funds will enable fifth grade students to learn about motion with the help of a Go! Motion Detector from Vernier. This electronic device produces graphs to represent movement that it detects. Students will produce and interpret these graphs, aiding in their learning about distance, time, and motion.
The Toshiba America Foundation, a non-profit grant making organization, contributes to the quality of science and mathematics education by investing in projects designed by classroom teachers to improve instruction for students.
