CONSERVATION CHALLENGE SAVES OVER $150,000
With the final numbers in, West Hartford Public Schools have saved an estimated $154,798 during the 2008-2009 school year, as compared with the previous year’s usage.
District-wide focused conservation efforts began in November, building on previous programs in the schools. Efforts by staff and students at all schools resulted in the savings of 836,749 kilowatt hours over a similar time period last year. Based on current costs for electricity, this has reduced the district’s expenditure by $154,798 as of June 12, 2009.
