Author Jeanine Behr Getz shared examples from her book Think Green! about how kids can “think big and act green at any age.” Written with young children in mind, Think Green! shows kids how they can make choices that will save electricity, conserve water, reduce waste and pollution. It is the first children’s book to feature its own eco-audit and is made from recycled paper and uses soy-based ink.

Mrs. Behr Getz visited classrooms in grades Kindergarten through third grade to read her book and discuss how children can help keep their world green and clean.  Followning her presentation, students had the opportunity to think green immediately following the presentation by participating in conservation-focused activities that reduce waste.

As an advocate for the environment, Mrs. Behr Getz was selected to be a test driver for GM’s Hydrogen Fuel Cell Equinox and was recently featured on Good Morning America.  In addition to her presentations, Morley third, fourth and fifth grade students attended an assembly with Stephen Marlin, a GM engineer, to learn about this green technology.  Students then had a chance to view and sit behind the wheel of this unique car.

Special thanks are due to the Foundation for West Hartford Public Schools, the Cantor Family Grant, and the Morley PTO for funding this project.
