Strategy

We will increase the community awareness of the value of high quality preschool experiences.

 

Action Plan #1
 

Compile and summarize information on:

a) the development of the brain

b) the monetary and educational value of preschool

c) the existence and need for standards

Steps:

  1. Identify the standards in high quality preschool experiences.

  2. Identify valid current research on brain development.

  3. Identify valid current research on the monetary and education value of high quality preschool experiences.

 

Action Plan #2
 

Increase awareness of the role of community in engaging and educating families about the importance of high quality preschool experiences.

 

Steps:

  1. Identify how each group of stakeholders can become active participants in raising awareness.

  2. Educate key members of the community in order for them to understand the issues and to advocate for high quality preschool.

  3. Provide continuing support to key members of the community in their role in conveying the message. 

 

Action Plan #3
 

Develop awareness of the Early Education Fund (see Resource Development Action Plan #2), through which the general public can contribute to an on-going fund to support early childhood experiences.

 

Steps:

  1. Provide information on how stakeholders can contribute monetarily to support an ongoing awareness campaign and early childhood services.

 

Action Plan #4
 

Develop resources that deliver the message to the community.

 

Steps:

  1. Identify campaign content and messages.

  2. Develop and establish how the message will be tailored to each of the key members of the community through a variety of resources.

  3. Identify prevalent spoken languages in the community.

  4. Identify key contact to replenish materials distributed/used.

  5. Establish pre-and post-levels of awareness (e.g. Boston United Way surveys).

 

Action Plan #5
 

Develop a 4-year public relations campaign.

 

Steps:

  1. Acquire the services of a Public Relations Consultant (paid or pro bono).

  2. Define quality preschool experience (see collected data).

  3. Identify staffing needs to manage and implement the Public Relation campaign.
