October PTO News
Yes, you can still join PTO! The yearly fee is $15 per household. For that you, get one directory. We still have directories left. Additional directories are $5 for PTO members. To join, you can download the membership form from the Hall High Website (under PTO), and send your check and form to Hall High, attention PTO. In a week or two, a directory will be given to one of your student’s teachers (most likely first period) and your oldest child will be asked to take it home. If you have any questions, or can’t download the form, please contact HallPTO@comcast.net
Each year Hall and Conard have a combined PTO meeting and dinner. As part of the fun, cost free evening, we have a speaker that talks about a topic of interest regarding our teens. Once Community of Concern came on the scene, PTO invited COC to join us and provide the speaker. This year, our dinner will be on Wednesday, October 29th in the Hall cafeteria at 5:45. The speaker, Liz Jorgensen, a mother of 4 and a therapist, will present Delay your Gray, How to Keep your Teenager Safe and Yourself Sane, at 7:00 in the Hall Auditorium. PTO volunteers will be cooking dinner, so it is necessary to RSVP by October 15 to HallPTO@comcast.net Both the dinner and speaker are free of charge and open to Parents of the Hall and Conard PTO’s. It is always a nice, social and informative evening.
Election Day will be bake sale day at Hall High. Please make sure you vote at your designated voting place and note that PTO and Empty Bowls will run a Bake sale on Tuesday, November 4th at Hall High. Students will not be in school, but teachers will have an in-service day. If you are interested in baking, setting up, or working the bake sale, please contact the chair of the event, Karen Shakun at kshakun@hotmail.com or 206-8743.
We used to collect used ink cartridges to recycle them and make a profit. The program we were participating in with Staples ended. We are looking into another program to recycle cell phones and ink cartridges, but we need a chair or two to run the program for Hall. If you are interested in running this environmentally friendly fundraiser, please contact HallPTO@comcast.net

At www.freerice.com once can play a game, improve vocabulary (there are other subjects available) and help feed hungry people. The next time you are on hold on a phone, check out freerice.com or encourage your children to painlessly improve their vocabularies.
PTO is planning for next year already. If you would like to “job share” with a PTO officer this year so that you can see if it would be a good fit for next year, please contact HallPTO@comcast.net to be, matched up with the tasks you like to do.
