A Letter from our SA President

Dear Hall High,

Looks like you and I are stuck with each other for next year, so we might as well make the most of it.
There’s good news! The new Constitution was ratified, no thanks to the third of you who voted against it. I am just writing this letter to let you know how I’m doing and how the rest of the Student Association is.

I’m fine. I’ve got a great schedule this year and I’ve already had several meetings with our various administrators to discuss a myriad of things.

We’ve talked about the upcoming SA dance. It’s going to be difficult because we want to have this dance outdoors, but there is some kind of townwide regulation against having school-sponsored events outdoors in the dark. But we’re working for you here. It’ll be on Saturday, Sept. 21, with a rain date for Saturday, Sept. 28. Senior Rebecca Fox is in charge of that event and pretty much any other event throughout the year, so if you have comments, questions, or suggestions, feel free to ask either her or myself.

So, what else is new? Well, senior Sam R. is working on publicity for the dance. He is head of Internal Affairs, which apparently means publicity. He’ll also be taking care of those messy problems that should remain inside the SA.

Senior Ben R. will be heading up our Student Issues division. If you have any problems with, say, the price of cafeteria food, or the lack of an open campus, direct those concerns to him.

You may be asking, “How can I get in touch with all of these complete strangers?” Well, we’re really trying to get ourselves an office somewhere in the school, so that you’ll have a place to leave your comments, questions, and concerns. Until then, Sam’s a drummer in the Concert Band, Becky can be contacted through the Highlights office where she’s opinions editor, and Ben has 7th period lunch. He’s the guy with the Berkenstocks and the goatee. You can’t miss him.

Who else is on the SA, you ask? There’s Vice President senior Ian S. He’s going to be heading up a Club Council where representatives from every club gather on a monthly or bi-weekly basis and exchange ideas. It’s a new project so we’re not really sure where it’s going to go, but we really want to try it out and make it work. Senior Andy Zwecker is the Treasurer, so he’s in charge of the money. Senior Liz W. is the Secretary, so she types things up. Junior Alex L. is the Board of Education representative. He’s the type who’s not afraid to go and yell at people in order to make something happen.

Senior Josh W. coordinates the Cabinet activities and senior Jenny L.is the head of our Community division. She’s new, but she’ll be working with Empty Bowls, the Community Corps, and various other groups to make sure that Hall students get involved.

Those are the people that are working for you this year. And we really do want to work for you. We’re going to need your help. If you’re the type of person who has read this far in the article, you’re probably the type who would be able to help us. Run for Senator to represent your class, it’s not too late!! Get involved and have a great school year!

                Yours Forever,
                XOXOXOXO
