FAQ of the Webmaster

Now that the website has changed, it does not appear correctly.
As technology changes so do web browsers, if you have the latest version of your favorite browser and it still appears jumbled, check to see that you are viewing it at 100% and that your text size is normal. Changing these two features should bring the full features of Hall's new pull out and drop down menus. The site has been tested using, NS7.2 and up, IE6 and up, and Firefox 2.0. Dec 2006
- People should be using 1024X768 and normal font sizes - as the site is created at 800X600.

How and when did the Website start?
Hall's web presence began as a "ThinkQuest" project showing the commonalties between Hall and Conard. Both schools were represented some two years before WHPS.org began its presence.
The school year was 1996-97.

When is Hall's Website updated?
Hall's site is updated on a daily basis or when a staff member makes a request for a change. This of course is dependent on the Webmaster being present that day or the information being forwarded to him is presented in a timely manner.
(Note: Remember there is only one person to oversee the whole site and it is not usually updated when school is not in session.)

Is student help permitted?
Yes! Responsible students are always needed, and will be used in areas that the student and webmaster agree upon. Parents and teachers can also help out, this is our community!

Who is responsible for Department updates?
Each department has a designated staff member who updates their department page as needed. Some Departments have not elected a designate person or have more then one.

When is the PTO Newsletter updated?
The PTO Newsletter is updated when the Activities Director has completed the current issue and it has been delivered to the Webmaster for review and publication on the web.

As of December 2006 - the PTO Newsletter will be called "Hall Update". The reasons for this are not shared with the Webmaster.

How many hours per day are spent working on the Website?
The Webmaster is released for one duty period per day to maintain the website. Time spent may run well over that time period of time and it is left up to the Webmaster to manage the time as needed.

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a0046' - Permission denied - /schools/hall/main.asp, line
or
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005' - [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Operation must use an updateable query.-/schools/hall/students/sendform.asp, line
These errors happen when a malfunction occurs at the server level. It will clear up as soon the server file is fixed or updated. This may not always be resolved in a timely manner as the person in charge of the server end of things may be unavailable. Please let the server admin know the error - Joan_Bonino@whps.org

When is my class having a reunion? Or where can I find out about my class reunion?
The first place to check is the student directory, if it is not found there you can call Hall High School's office at 860.232.4561 and ask if they have any information about your particular class or who to contact. If you would like us to display your class reunion information e-mail the webmaster chet_bacon@whps.org the pertinent information and contact person's information.

I am sure there are a lot more questions that visitors might have, but if you reflect on the ones above you can see there is a whole lot more to do at the site then time allows. Please join me in presenting Hall High School to the world, as it should be, the BEST High School in the country! - Thank you for any help - Hall's Webmaster.
