More Pictures of Nikki

Nikki Giampolo was a very talented and dedicated cross-country runner. Nikki attended RHAM High School in Hebron and was an honor student, the president of her freshman class, an unbelievable swimmer, an accomplished flute player, and one of the top five cross country runners for her school. In her freshman year, she was already on the states team for RHAM high school and she was a fierce competitor. Her toughest competition, though, was against cancer. A year ago, she was diagnosed with bone cancer, and we, as Hall's cross-country team, decided we would raise money to help her in any way we could. After sending her the money we raised, Nikki decided to make bears and give them to the nurses and doctors that helper her along the way. Sadly, Nikki died on January 1, 2002, at the age of 15, having battled bone cancer for 6 months. But her actions were not forgotten. In her memory, the Build-A-Bear Workshop Foundation has introduced a new and special bear specifically for children's cancer. We, as the cross-country team, have continued supporting this cause in memory of Nikki. Nikki was an unbelievable athlete and a very steadfast human being, and we have decided to support this new Build-A-Bear Workshop cause in her memory. In the following months, we will be raising money that will go to making these children's cancer bears. Although part of the money goes toward childrens' cancer research, the bears themselves will be donated to children with cancer at local hospitals, in memory of Nikki. We would love your support in our endeavor. Together we can make an incredible difference in the fight against children's cancer: a difference Nikki would be proud of.
