Using proven networking curriculums, refined and focused for the
school environment, students will be taught the conceptual and technical
skills to design, install, operate and maintain state-of-the-art
computer networks. Students who graduate the program will have acquired
the skills necessary to take Cisco's Certified Network Associate
(CCNA) certification exam. CCNA certification positions students
for immediate openings in the job market, or for engineering/science-focused
college students.
"But
I am not interested in being a CCNA. Why should I consider this
class", asked a Hall High School student. Whether or not you
intend to continue to pursue a career in technology students
will gain insight in how networks function and how to setup/maintain
their own Local Area Network. More and more, home users are networking
their home to share computer resources. Students also learn what
is inside their computer and how to troubleshoot problems encountered
using Cisco's seven steps to computer/network problem solving.
Even as high technology jobs are being out-sourced, there
are over 500,000 IT jobs unfilled in the United States. To help
fill
these
needs
Capitol
Region Education
Council
(CREC) partnered with Cisco in providing training to teachers
starting in March of 1999. Hall High School's Technology Education
Staff
is but one of a handful of schools chosen to participate in its
first year.
Why
choose Cisco Networking Academy?
- Seven
out of ten students on the Web say they're getting better grades.
- By
the time today's elementary school students graduate from high
school, over a billion jobs will require Internet skills.
- One
day, training for every job on Earth will be available on the
Internet.
- Over
70 million people are getting an education on the Internet this
year.
- There
are over 800,000 job openings for Internet specialists right now.
- There
will be over three million job openings for Internet specialists
in the next six years.

Real
World Knowledge in Action:
Cisco
students at Hall High School are continuing their networking knowledge
base with a real world, civic based experience, called HANOC. Students
have volunteered their time and efforts to give back into their
town a wired learning center. Using knowledge gained from their
Cisco classes students planned and implemented a classroom learning
center for Hillcrest area residents.
Work
continues as graduate students work with Cisco 2nd year students
completely wire the house into its own LAN. Follow the link to learn
more as students continue this work in progress.
