Back to Colonial Home What happen to the Indians?
They obtained the land from Indians sometimes by cheating. Angry about losing their homelands, in March 1622 Indians killed 350 colonists in Virginia. But most of the time Indians lose their battles. During the Pequot War of 1636-37 Connecticut's Pequot tribe was nearly wiped out. In 1675 an Indian named king Philip led the Wampanoag and Narragansett tribes against the colonists in Massachusetts and Rhode Inland. The colonial army nearly destroyed both tribes in this war, which is known as the king Philips War.
