Colonists took some land from the Indians to make farms on the land.  The Indians were very angry and some people fought the colonists.  During the Pequot War of 1636-37, the tribe was nearly wiped out.  The Indians lost the war and lost more of their land.  Since the Indians lost the Pequot War, they did not have enough land to live on.
