Who were the colonist?

Most of the colonists were English.  The people from Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Netherland, France, and Sweden came as well.  Some people came to America against their will.  The first colonies, Virginia and Massachusetts had the most people.  Some people brought black slaves from Africa.  The first slaves were brought to the Virginia Colony in 1619.  Most of the slaves were brought to the south.  By 1700, about 250,000 colonists lived in America.
