Dinner For Three

She left her mom in Russia to come to America, another broke-well actually set-a world record, and the last but definitely not least, she won the 2007 Australian Open. These are the three people that I would invite to my dinner party.
Martina Hingis has set a world record before. In 1997, she won Wimbledon at age 16, and was the youngest winner of Wimbledon ever. Martina had to stop playing tennis for awhile, because of injuries in both of her ankles at age 22. But, in November of 2005, at age 25 Martina came back to announce that she would come back to the WTA tour, starting in Gold Coast Australia starting in January 2006. She then became the sixth best woman's tennis player in the world. She also appeared in the 2007 Australian Open. Even though she came pretty far in the tournament, she did not win. If Martina came to my dinner party, I would talk to her about what it was like, coming back to play tennis after three long years.
Maria Sharapova had to leave her mom in Russia to come to America to play tennis. By the time she got to America, she and her dad had almost no money left. But Maria still got into a tennis school and trained. It's just that, even though she got to come to America, it's too bad that she couldn't see her own mom for two whole years! I mean, think about it, how would you feel if you got to do something that you really want to do, but couldn't even see your own family while you got to do whatever it was that you wanted to do? Right now, Maria is ranked number one in the world and has won two Grand Slam titles. She also appeared in the 2007 Australian Open, and even though she made it to the final round, she-just like Martina-did not win. If she came to my party, I would talk to her about what it was like, not being able to see her own mom for two whole years.
Last but not least, Serena Williams was the one who played against Maria Sharapova, and beat her in the final round of the 2007 Australian Open. Her sister, Venus Williams, is also a great tennis player, but can't play tennis right now because of a wrist injury. The sisters' father is their coach, and Serena used to be number one in the world. A lot of people didn't think that Serena could actually beat Maria in the (2007) Australian Open, but she proved those people wrong! If she came to my party, I would talk to her about how she felt when she found out that people didn't believe in her.
So, there you have it, from having no money at all, to becoming number one in the world. From people not believing in you, to winning the Australian Open. And finally, from being the youngest winner of Wimbledon ever, to setting a world record. You don't have to remember everything, but remember this: nobody's perfect, not even sports stars!
