This is my math page.
This year we will be doing a lot of math. If you keep on visiting this
page, you will see what Perry Wicklow, my teacher is making me do.
We began the year working on values and variables. We also started
graphing, and working on finding the median. At the moment, we are
working on collecting our own data, and turning it into a graph. It is much further in
the year, and I have lot of things to tell you. Right now, we are
working on place value. We are doing hard addition problems to help us
figure out how to understand the place value problems. Also, we are
doing problems by using blocks. There are bit, which count as one.
There are skinny's, which count as ten. Also, there are flats which
count as 100. We do math problems with these blocks, and we learn even
more place value! Now, we are working on fractions. We are learning how to covert mixed numbers to improper fractions, and making improper fractions mixed numbers. We have been on this unit for quite some time now. But....What is a mixed number? A mixed number is a fraction with 1 or more wholes. For example: 1 and a half is a mixed number. 11/28/06 The CMTS are here, and we have been doing a ton of math practice and review. We learned how to count to ten!!!... No, just kidding. We can now tell you 20 ways coins can make 25cents. Also, we can do long division. For exalple we can do a problem like 2456 divided by 4! Much of our practice comes from www.aaamath.com. We practice time measurement, factions, division and more. 3/11/07 |
