| Why did the English come to America? Well, one reason was that
the laws in European countries were favored by the oldest son. Younger
sons got very little or no land from their parents. A second reason was
that the English king told how to worship. Many people including the
pilgrims came so that they could worship as they pleased. Others came to
teach the Indians about Christianity. Others came for gold and jewels.
Finally, some came for the excitement of living in a faraway land.
