Back to Colonial Home Who were the first visitors to America?
Who were the first visitors to America? Well, first only Indians lived in America. Then Europeans came in A.D. 1000, but only to visit. Some were explorers. Some were fisherman. Others were traders. Once they got back home they talked about this great land. It was beautiful, full of wildlife, and the Indians were very eager to trade. Later, they came more and more often. The Europeans began to think about living in America. More and more people began to come. People from Spain were the first Europeans to build a colony in the United States. They founded St. Augustine, Florida in 1565.
