  As more and more colonists arrived they wanted more land from the Indians. Angry about losing their home lands, some of the Indians fought. In march of 1622 Indians fought and killed 350 colonists in Virginia. But most of the time the Indians lost their battles. During the Pequot war of 1636-37 Connecticut's Pequot tribe was nearly wiped out.
