HOT School Model

The HOT (Higher Order Thinking) School Model was developed at Wolcott School, and there are currently 24 schools formally enrolled in the program.

The model focuses on the integration of arts, academics, and democracy within the school and the classroom. It recognizes that every school is a culture, and that effective school reform occurs at the level of organizational culture. Schools adopting the model approach each day as a celebration and validation of every child and his/her learning.

The program employs a full time staff located at The Connecticut Commission on the Arts. It is funded by The Commission on Culture and Tourism, The State Department of Education, The Connecticut Legislature, and The National Endowment for the Arts.
