Intro

Mrs. Dicks has been teaching for ten years. Her first 5 years of teaching were at Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Hartford. Her next five years of teaching have been here at Wolcott School.  She went to Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, and studied Education and Child Study.

Mrs. Dicks also received a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology from the University of Hartford. She and her husband, Mr. Dicks, who teaches 3rd grade here at Wolcott school, own 2 cats named Jack and Owen. Owen eats her hats, scarves, and sweaters. They also own 1 dog named Kaleigh, a lhasa apso. Mrs. Dicks also has two leopard geckos, Oliver and Dallas, who are our class pets and sit in the back of our room.

Teaching

Mrs. Dicks’s favorite subject to teach is reading and her least favorite subject to teach is cursive. She also LOVES to teach Adobe Photoshop to her students for the agenda for Town Meeting. The kids in our class also love to learn Photoshop. She started Green Ink in her second year of teaching at Wolcott. Green Ink is kids from her class who make posters and other things on Adobe Photoshop. Last year they also decided that they would fill in orders for other teachers around the school. For example, they would make nametags and cards.

Likes/Dislikes

Mrs. Dicks has a couple likes and dislikes. For instance, she loves The Beatles but doesn’t really doesn’t like Ashlee Simpson.  She is a very particular person (not in a bad way). She loves big words and teaches them to us all the time but she hates when we whine about it, or any other thing. She is in love with sushi but hates cilantro. Mrs. Dicks loves boots (Uggs, especially) but hates stiletto high heels. And she loves the comfiest sweaters. She adores romantic comedy movies and despises horror movies. Her favorite kind of candy is chocolate covered pretzels. But she hates bumper stickers and line cutters.
