OUR PINGO POETS!!

The Autumn Walk Home    By Anne F.
November 8, 2006

Wind rips against my frigid, rosy, pink cheeks.
My backpack sags below my waist.
As I trudge down the sidewalk squirrels chase each other
up trees and birds formed in a V head south for the winter.
My ivory, jade, and blue sneakers crunch fallen leaves.
The aroma of gasoline flows through my nostrils as a silver Camry whizzes by.
I nestle into my fiery red puffy jacket and continue home.

A Moment     By Maria N.
November 15, 2006

I lie in the green grass,
looking at the clouds slowly drifting by.
A flock of birds flying like heaven sprinkling pepper on the earth
A gentle breeze stroking my face,
swifting side by side.
A moment.

Golden Brown  By Rory M.

The way a leaf
fell down on me
the golden brown
of an autumn tree

Has given my
soul a burst of light
and a
rhapsodic feeling in my heart

The Flowers and Winds of Spring
By Andreia S. and Austin T.

(Inspired by Robert Frost's poem,   "Blue-Butterfly Day")

     Beautiful violets,
     blowing through breezy winds.
     Lightning bolt lilies,
     awesomely ascending in the air
     as children toss them.
     Crazy winds,
     swishing and swashing
as they switch the children's faces
     from regular to rosy.
While the tulip petals fall off . . .
The flowers and winds of spring

Secret of the Light in the Sky
Zack G. and his friend Brandon

The moon is so bright in the darkness of the night.
There are many secrets of the moon
which will be revealed soon.
We will reveal the secret in the light
with the shining moon in the night.
The moon, high in the sky, has no fright
to reveal its dying light.
The moon is so far away.
It does not show itself in the day.
Moon, Moon . . .
We must see you soon.
Reveal your secrets in the light of the moon.

Sunset  By Christy G.

Glowing at the first sign of darkness.
A horizon being watched.
Slowly and carefully
it sets in the dark, blue ocean,
leaving a reflection behind.
The sunset.

Snowy Night  By Colin B.

As I walk down an empty road
on this snowy night
I trudge through the blizzard
wishing I can rest.
I see the people celebrating
in their warm houses and I smile.
I wish I could stay,
but I must go on,
for I am needed somewhere else.

Shine      By Jacob K.

  Shine like the moon.
  Shine like the stars.
  Shine like the warrior
  you know you are.
  Sparkle like
  perfection,
  like the light
  within your mind.
  Light up
  like the excellence
  that you know
  you can unleash.
  Find the light
  and strength
  Inside your heart.
  Feel that your special and
  Shine.

The Night  By Ian D.

The night, silence,
the man, a crystal glow in the inky black sky.
The ocean of stars pouring with light
the whistle of whispering wind, all silent,
awaiting the blistering sun.

Teachers     By Elaina R  .

Teachers are powerful firecrackers,
Their writing is a wind,
whistling happy thoughts through my ears.
Some teachers are comedians.
They are burning on fire when they scream.
Their teaching is a breath of warm air.
Teachers are the best cup of tea.

Two Roads     By Roxane B.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
Which one to take I do not know.
But I can see what each will be, one will be pleasant, but
one will be free.
Should I deny the clobbered ground, or shall I take the
one with no echoing sound. On the trampled road the
trees seem to cower, but on the other they seem to
tower.
Shall I travel the one with less risk taking, or should I

take one in the making?
I shall take one track, but hence I shall not come back.
I shall take the one less used, I shall believe that I made
the right choice to leave.
The human amused I should be.
For I, shall take the one less chosen.

(Inspired by Robert Frost)

The Black Cat
  By Alana W.

Its black blends into the night,
  blanging through the darkness.
  He bends over,
  licking a small candy wrapper,
listening to the bang of trick-or-treaters
  knocking down people's doors.
He bolts across a black road,
  discovers a small barrel,
  curls up inside,
  and falls asleep.

The Wonder     by Rachel J.

A dark room and the only light is from the full
moon shining above.
The voice of someone traveling up
the stairs yelling.
Empty glasses shattered and broken
cover the dusty kitchen floor, so dirty.
The hissing
black cat appears out of nowhere.
Rain starts to come
down from the sky like a twister.
Thunder and
lightning start to appear in the sky.
Only the cracked
window lets light in.
Pots and pans all over because the
roof has leaks.
The wonder.
 Looking at the Lake
 by Matthew M.

  Diving ducks,
  finding fish to eat.
The water waving to push the ducks.
  Canoes and kayaks passing by.
Birds flying over the summer water.
  Summer swimmers swimming.
  Winter skaters skating.
Fish rushing from place to place
  while ducks dive,
  trying to eat the fish

Greg The Loving Warrior

by Esteban P

As I walk into my house I see him,
the loving warrior,
t-bone in mouth, ears down
wagging tail, typical.
Staring at me with his huge chocolate eyes,
staring at me with his huge chocolate eyes.

Cannot Be Named

By Ann W.

The loneliness of a winter night
Standing outside without a light
Cannot be named
The sadness in an old man's eyes
The wiseness in an owl's face
Upon her wings trimmed with lace
Cannot be named
The statue witting alone in the dark
All it does is moan
Cannot be named
The shadow lit by the moonlight of a crow
I know cannot be named
And the sadness of a rainy day
All in a child's heart when
Someone has passed away

The Woods   By Emma K.

I'm going to go take a walk in the woods
with crisp air and crunching leaves under my feet.
I shan't be gone long.
You come too.

I'm walking a mile down the broken path,
the leaves shaking in the wind.
I shan't be gone long.
You come too.

The birds are singing.
The flowers are in bloom.
I shan't be gone long.
You come too.

Dolphins   By James W.

Jumping up and down,
through the waves they hop,
as though they like nothing better
than stealing fish from the water.

The Stars and Moon
By Chaunce D. & Dylan A.

The moon is shiny.
The stars get tiny.
One star blinks.
People wink.
In the night
the moon is bright
and the boys start to fight.
Until the sun begins to shine
in the beginning of daytime.
Yes, the moon's gone down,
making people frown.

Rain   By Kevin N.

Bashing rain,
thundering against my bedroom window.
The thunder crashing like a drum.
Lightning,
like a flute flashing through the windy air.

The Dance   By Tess W

The words flow onto the paper,
creating a new language--
creating a picture in my mind.
The words are my mind and heart
when I hear the wonderful creations.
This is poetry.

Moon    By Emma B.

Ode to your great guided light.
Your tawny light shines in the night sky.
You sometimes play hide and seek behind the clouds.
But other nights you shine like a lamp.
You wake up the owls, bats, and raccoons.
But when the sun comes up, you're gone . . .
For now.

What Silver Is
By Jessa G. and Brandon B.
March 23, 2005

                          Silver is a dolphin
                          Leaping across the sea,
                          a shining star
                          in the black night sky,
                          a glistening diamond
                          like no other.

                           Silver is a shining glacier
                           and a small, sparkling coin.

There are lots of things that silver is,
but most of all, silver is glorious.

Bloody Good
By Chris E.
March 30, 2005

Trillions of tiny seeds.
Growing a great green hat.
Squish.
Sweet blood dripping down my chin.
Red.
Ripe.
Strawberry.

Winter    By Madison S.
April 6, 2005

                Winter.
                a cold brisk of wind
                gently touching my face
                a white blanket of snow
                covering the grand
                icicles
                sticking to houses
                until spring comes.
                Winter.

Owl
By Romney H. & Kaelan A.
(Inspired by Langston Hughes' poem, "Dreams")
April 13, 2005

Swooping silently,
Fierce creatures of the night,
Camouflaged in trees,
Diving downward for mice,
Flying prey back to their owlets.

The Grass     By Jay F.
April 27, 2005

The grass is growing.
I can feel the soft clovers
in my hand.
Blowing snow comes.
The softness of the grass goes away.

Sunlight
by Vy D.
May 4, 2005

It wakes me up every morning.
It's light glares at me.
Like a tiny sunflower,
Floating in the navy blue sky.
It makes me feel like,
Going outside,
And feel the warmness
On my face.
When the moon comes up,
The sun is resting until the next morning.

Fire Compared to Ash     By Ian D
May 11, 2005

The sun orange flames of fire I gaze,
To make the orange flames flare through it graze and hay,
And when by day nothing lay except
for where the fires lashed...
Lay nothing but ash,
Yet somehow they are the same by logs rolling in night
and glowing coals by day...
This is where the fire lay.

The Sun   By Kirsten B.
May 18, ,2005

The glistening, shining sun in the sky.
Looking down at you.
Flying kites.
Touching the sun.
Having a picnic while it's shining on you.
The sun

Golden Gate  By Alana W.
May 25, 2005

Looming over the azure waves of the Pacific Ocean.
Its vast, red poles glint in the sunlight
making it look almost orange.

Southeast lies the tall skyscrapers
and the bustling streets of San Francisco.
A boat sails underneath.

But it soon grows dark and it is no longer visible.
And the city lights turn on.

Spring!  By Gabby S.
June 1, 2005

Beautifully colored flowers popping their heads out of the snow melted green grass.
Tiny little blue jays soaring above your head.
Kids rolling down freshly cut grass hills.
Boom! Boom!
Slamming the orange round ball on the pavement when swish right in the hoop.
Bam!
It's out of here.
Playing baseball with friends and family.
Spring.

Flowers in the Rainforest
By Hunter D.
June 8, 2005

I would like my very own garden.
I would plant it in the rain forest.
There would be purple bell flowers.
  Ding-a-ling-ling!
  There would be roses too.
Like you put on a tuxedo.
  Ooooo-la-la!
  It would also have pansies.
The pansies will look like a panda bear's head.
  Choo-choo!

Tree Bark
By Kathleen R.
June 13, 2005

  As I touch it,
my fingers tingle from the roughness.
It's tremendous, and you can find it on a tree.
As I peel it off, a soft windy breeze blows by.
  Brown, scratched tree bark snuggles
next to the tree for comfort.

Ode to Summer  By Nick A.
June 20, 2005

Summer vacation, I'm free at last.
The school year really went by very fast.
I don't want the weather to be damp.
Especially when I'm at summer camp.
I know I'm going to have a blast,
Even though I know it won't last!
"Summer's lease has all too short a stay."
Baseball ends, time runs out to read great books.
Time goes by like a flash before my eyes.
Nothing

Fall Signs  By Chris E.
September 22, 2005

As I looked around I saw one thousand brick red leaves.
I could see all the piles of leaves that children made.
I could feel how smooth and rough they were.
I could taste pumpkin pie watering in my mouth.
I could see them orange in the field far away.
I could see the aquamarine sky above.

All around me stood orange pumpkins in their patch, close and
   far away
I heard fall rustling in the wind.
I could hardly wait to taste those roasted pumpkin seeds
and smell that apple pie cooking in the oven.

Rain  By Jack D.
September 29, 2005

Rain is falling from the sky.
Thunder is booming,
Lightning slashing!
The wind is whistling.
The rain is tapping on the windows.
Trees are getting wet.
Dirt turns to mud.
Then the rain stops.

Lake
     By Thalia R.
October 5, 2005

          Leaves falling on the ground
All around the lake autumn has come

The Beach    By Andrew S.
November 3, 2005

Stunning sea lavender flowers flowing in the breeze.
Fiddler crabs scurrying from hole to hole.
A cold sea breeze slipping through my hair.
Small waves crashing with a roar against the rocky shore.
Getting your pants grimey and sandy.  ICK!!
Going home with an odorious salt watery smell.
That's what happens at the dazzling beach!

Wind  By Zachary R.
November 10. 2005

When you are riding your bike,
The wind will blow in your face.
As you are running in the summer,
The wind will blow in your shirt.
When you are trick-or-treating,
The wind will blow in your eyes.
When you are scootering down the street,
The wind will blow in your ears.
The wind follows me wherever I go.

Sultry Beach   By Madison S.
November 17, 2005

Stinging sea rays in the oceans.
Snowy sand sitting right by the glittering ocean.
The shining sun in the sky.
Chattery children splashing in the water.
Magnificent multi-colored bathing suits.

Spectacular sunsets at the beach!

The Blue Sky    By Alix R
December 1, 2005

Fourteen little stars looking down at us.
A tall moon lights up the sky
Filling me with joy
As I look up at the Big Dipper

Landscape   By Bryan S.
December 8, 2005

Sagging trees rise
after getting boomed by the wind.
Morose flowers lay in a never-ending sleep.
Foolish pots rest on flooded earth.
Sorrowful mulch drowns in the rain-filled driveway.
Dejected shutters hang by a thread.
Sullen bushes lay everywhere, tattered to pieces.
Insane rooftops demand the oak trees
get off of them.

The Rain Dance  by Tulsi S.
December 15, 2005

The rain
pitter pats
around our neighborhood
I hear it splashing on my window
The thunder comes with lightening
And talks to the rain
The rain begins falling harder
It sounds like drums banging
The flowers dance in the rain
and sway in the wind

Calling other flowers to
dance with them
to the tune of the rain drops

Droopy flowers
jump up from their beds
to join the fun
The flowers will sleep
When the rainbow comes

Chocolate   By Maria N.
December 22, 2005

A sweet box inside a pot of gold.
Creamy peanut butter
taste melting in my mouth
like a snowman in the sun.
A moist and rich ball of happiness

Snowflake   By Alex R.
January 5, 2006

A beautiful snowflake falling from the sky,
White and soft inside my warm hands,
Landing on the hard flat ground
and blowing away.

 Rain  By Matthew A.
January 12, 2006

Rain is a crying sky,
tears are hitting the ground.
Rain is cold water drops,
a shower in the street,
a sprinkler watering the grass.
Rain is a child playing in the puddles,
a loud tapping on my bedroom window.

After Gardening    By Hannah G.
January 19, 2006
(inspired by Robert Frost)

          One weed another weed
I rip out from the garden.
          One seed another seed,
          I plant into the garden.
          Violets, roses, and sunflowers too.
          Of gardening
          I am tired
          The scent of sweet roses
I am drifting off to sleep.
          Awakened by a robin
          singing a charming song.
          After gardening
          I am calm.

Snow  By Victoria C.
January 26, 2006

Snow is as white as a wedding gown.
It sparkles and shimmers in the light
as the sun hits it.
It looks beautiful on the pine trees.

Land of Life  By Chidebe N.
February 2, 2006

The lime jade happy bush stood on the mountain
of livid, insane boulders overlooking the bored moss grass.
The azure peach sauntering sunset danced across
the drowsy trees.
The bronze boat swayed on the lazy lake
admiring the kingly brick cherry farms.
The lonely jet ash road grumbled at the happy wheat
standing and laughing on the farm.
The sable dusk had fallen up0n the land of life.

Forgotten on the Bookshelf    By Ian D.
February 9, 2006

Forgotten on the bookshelf,
forgotten on the stand.
Forgotten while the reader
has a new book at hand.
Its old and dusty pages,
have hoped for readers' eyes,
Yet all remembrance of it
slowly slips and dies.
The cover is a filthy mess,
the bind is ripped and worn.
The pages left ajar,
only to be torn.
Forgotten on the bookshelf,
forgotten on the stand,
Yet its power still
resides in a faraway land.

Outdoors  By Danny G.
February 16, 2006

An eagle soars above my head
then it swoops down to find a meal.
I look up in the sky to see ten puffy white clouds.
I also see the sun and the light gets in my eyes.
I watch the trees wave back and forth as if they are waving at me.
I see bugs flying around,
A butterfly as free as the moon,
Flowers growing bigger and bigger,
Snow as white as a rabbit's fur,
A sunset of pink, yellow, purple, and orange,
A rainbow smiles above my body.
Then I think the outdoors is amazing!

Snow      By Matthew M.
March 16, 2006

Fluffy little clouds of cotton
Soft white blanket
laying on the ground!
Many flying flakes in front of me.
Like being caught in a giant pillow fight!
Cold, crackling steps
As I walk to school I hear a roar--
A roar of a truck!
Orange snowplow pushing the flakes away.
Fresh fallen snow!

Colors      By Jennifer L.
March 23, 2006

Green is the color of an avocado growing,
Red is cranberry juice that's sweet and sour,
Purple is a plum that's just picked, squishy and warm,
Blue is the sky at night with many stars,
Yellow is a golden lemon,
Orange is a pumpkin being carved on Halloween,
White are pearls in the sea,
Colors taste so good and look so pretty.

Dark Skin     By Kerry McFadden
March 30, 2006

No sun burns
A unique type of beauty
No feeling bad about making fun of people darker

But still a tragic past
Poor great, great grandparents
Going through slavery and unfairness
Sitting in the backs of the buses
Waiting for a miracle

But now America is what it was made to be
A peaceful country where Americans live free

Day and Night  By Roshni B.
April 6, 2006

At daytime, I see the clouds moving,
the sun shining, grass swaying,
oceans roaring, waterfalls splashing,
rocks standing still.

At night time, I see the moon glowing,
the stars sparkling and shining in the darkness of the night,
lights flashing, people sleeping, and dreams flashing.

Spring      By Max B.
April 13, 2006

 As the sun rises up,
  I see buds
 and raccoons appearing and scurrying.
I hear kids, birds, and bells
playing, chirping, and ringing.
As in years past,
spring comes again.

Colors     By Michael D.
April 27, 2006

Silver is shiny armor on a warrior fighting
Yellow is a fast Lambourgini racing
Blue is a fish swimming in the bowl
Red is a heart - alive and beating
Gold is Ms. Rausch's big glasses that make us laugh
Brown is the color of an ox chasing people
Green is a dragon flying in the air.

Spring Life    By Kevin P.
May 4, 2006

Spring life is the nature and wind all around you.
The trees, the grass, and the sand is like your best friend.
Taking a nap in the shade and waking from the most tremendous daydream.
The hope of a daydream always gets better than ever.
That is spring life!

The Joy of Spring         By Jenna H.
May 11, 2006

                       Tweet, tweet
                       I hear the birds
                       Flowers bursting,
                       Rabbits hopping,
                       Animals being born,
                       Green grass growing,
                       Butterflies fluttering,
                       Bumblebees making honey,
Buds popping out on a warm day,
                       That's springtime!

Butterflies   By Francesca B.
May 18, 2006

Butterflies are like glittering stars.
Butterflies are like roses blowing in the wind.
Butterflies are colorful,
blue,
red,
green,
and yellow.
I cherish the butterfly flying in the air.

The Wind        By Aditi A.
June 1, 2006

The air waving my hair all wild
as it blows like the Big Bad Wolf.
Roars like a vicious terrifying loud monster.
The loudest blowing air anyone can hear.
Oh - wind is delightful!

Nature     By Meera S.
June 8, 2006

Nature is the wide open sea making sounds.
Swish! Swish!
Nature is the wind howling.
Ooooo! Ooooo!
Nature is the leaves on the trees falling down.
Thump! Thump!

What is Blue?    By Daesha G.
June 15, 2006

Blue is the sky on a nice summer's day.
A tear that comes from a sad face,
A gust of wind blowing into your space.
Blue is the color of some people's hair,
The color of a blue jay's tail
Winding down the woodland trail.
The scarf around the lady's neck so sweet,
And a ball rolling down the city street.
My mom's car, my bike, and my favorite shirt that I like.
A hydrangea in bloom in the month of May,
And a baseball hat when they start to play.
My teacher's eyes staring at me,
Blue as the night and deep as the sea

Peace   By Daesha G.
October 5, 2006

Peace smells like . . .
The wind blowing into some blueberry pie and back to me.
A daisy on the tip of my nose--
That's what peace is.

Peace looks like . . .
My teacher Ms. Marchand - she is so smart.
A butterfly flowing in the wind.

Peace sounds like . . .
My cat purring.
A kid plunging into the pool.

Peace tastes like . . .
My mom's pasta.
Sweet sour candy.

Peace feels like . . .
My mom giving me hugs and kisses.

Nature      By Alanna U.
October 11, 2006

In nature,
you can hear the whispering wind.
You can feel the air around you.
You can feel the light touch of rain on your shoulders.
You can hear the birds chirping.
You can watch the flowers grow.
You do do anything in nature.
I love nature!

Color   By Jonathan L.
October 19, 2006

Red, like steaming fire
Blue, the ocean water
Gray as the koala climbing up trees
Black as the dark night
Yellow like an afternoon thunderstorm
Orange like the evening sun
Brown yaks moving like buffalo
Green, the alligator searching for prey.
Pink, a pig oinking
White like the quail traveling the sky,
All of the colors make me happy!

The Sun   By Shannon R.
October 25, 2006

Shining yellow like a bright yellow crayon,
lighting up the light blue sky,
                shining up against the clouds.
                A remarkable sight!
Like a yellow sheet flowing across the sky.

Halloween     By Allison V
November 1, 2006

A shimmering sphere lights the neighborhood,
Diamond stars bright in the night,
            Candy - soft or sweet,
Spider webs cover the spooky houses,
Kids in costumes saying, "Trick or treat!"

A moment.

Lonely    By Vy D.
November 29, 2006

Dropping its arms onto the bare ground.
Standing in the distance,
far away from the houses.
Watching kids playing happily
while it just stands there.
Its feet are sunken
into the cocoa brown dirt.
Nobody sitting in its cool shade.
The sadness keeps on growing,
as the sun is replaced by the moon.

Wavy Shore   By Michael M.
December 6, 2006

Fizzzz . . . .
The water gently bumping into
several giant boulders
on the rocky, sandy shore.
The rapid current flying
between the rocks
so fast it could take you
out to the ocean
effortlessly.

A white seagull sitting
on a tall rock,
waiting for a bite
to eat.
