Yoga in Kindergarten

          Since September, each kindergarten class at Whiting Lane has participated in a 30 minute weekly yoga session with Ms. Luetjen. Practicing yoga with young children has been extensively researched, and the positive effects are being observed throughout our kindergarten classrooms.

Ms. Luetjen asked her kindergarteners, "Why do we practice yoga here at school?"
These were some of their responses....

"Because it calms your body down," said Emma R.
"Because it makes you strong!" said Kiril S.
"Because it is healthy for you to get exercise," said Christopher L.
"Because if you are mad, it will help you calm down," said Ella H.
"Because it helps our bodies and our voices to be quiet," said James N.
"It makes us more strong because we are getting more muscles," said Aidan O.
"Because yoga makes us relax," said Jack H.

"Because it makes us healthy. It gives us energy and it makes us stronger," said Ava F.

 

"Namaste means 'Honor the light within.' We are all different and special and that is okay," concludes Cayden G.
