My lucky day

By Joseph

It was my lucky day! I was in the Park Road Parade. We made a float and everyone had a Whiting Lane School sash and hat. Flash, our school’s stuffed owl, sat on the float as we rode through the parade. We threw candy to the crowd. We had lollipops, Hershey chocolate and bubble gum. I ate a lot of Hershey chocolate. Then I went out to dinner with my mom, sister and brother. The pizza place was near where my brother did karate. They made great pizza. After that, we got to go to the pet store and play with a little puppy. We took him into a pen-like box and played with him. He tried to strangle a stuffed cow that played music! This was one of my best days ever!

My Field Trip to Hammonasset State Park

By Ben

My field trip to Hammonasset State Park was awesome! I had lots of fun! First we went to the rocky shore. My group caught at least 7 Pacific Crabs. Their species is crowding out the green crab. That’s why they are so common and the green crabs are so rare. Next we went to the Salt Marsh. Somebody thought it smelled like rotten eggs but I didn’t think so. We played a game and ate a salty plant called Glasswort. Last but not least, we went to the Sandy Beach.  We put signs up for the water line, high water mark, highest water mark and the dune.  When we went up to the dune we measured the beach.  Then, we ate lunch and went back to school and answered comprehension questions.  That wasn’t as fun as Hammonasset.  I hope I can go there again!

BIG PAPI

BY LIZZIE

I was shaking with excitement! Today I was getting a new dog! I burst through the door, and there he was! He had coal black fur, chocolate nose, and brown mad eyebrows! We already knew what to name him. We were going to name him Big Papi. [Papi for short.] Once my mom was home, we took Papi outside and played with him. He began to tear around the yard. Then we took Papi inside and he curled up in a tight ball and fell asleep in his crate. This is a day I will never forget!

I can’t wait for Christmas

By Christopher

“Woo, fall is ending and that means Christmas is coming. I like Christmas vacation because I can have a sleepover with my friends. We can play video games and legos and when it’s Christmas Time we get lots of presents. I can see my whole family; my papa, my grandma, my mom and dad, my aunt Suzy and Ruby, my uncle Bill, my cousins Mary Rose, John, Michael and Patrick. After all of that fun Christmas will end and all the fun will be over. Then I will have to go back to school.

Hamburger Paragraph

By: Connor

Last sunny Tuesday I went in my red Toyota car to Burger King. I went up to the menu, and there were so many choices. I went to my table and the waiter came to it. I ordered hot steamy curly fries, a chocolate swirly milk shake and for my burger a big slice of American cheese, nice creamy mayo, light red ketchup and cold mustard. There was a big handful of lettuce and some perfectly cut sliced tomatoes. That was the best lunch ever!

My Birthday Party

By: Erin

I can’t wait for my birthday! I am inviting three friends for a sleepover-birthday party at the Mariott Hotel. We are staying in a suite. There is a living area along with the two bedrooms. In the hotel there is a swimming pool and a whirl pool. For dinner we will be having Barb’s Pizza and for dessert we will be having cheesecake from the cheesecake factory in Blue Back Square. After that we will paint our nails and watch a movie. This might be my best birthday party ever!

The Sopwith Camel

Tyler

The Sopwith Camel was a great fighter aircraft. When America entered World War 1 in 1917, the Camel went into production. The F.1 model was initially armed with twin synchronized Vickers machine guns that fired through the airscrew arc without shooting the moving propeller. The torque of the later model’s LeRhone J9 110 hp engine pulled the aircraft down in a right turn, and up in a left turn, which proved it very maneuverable. All of these traits made it a great fighter aircraft. But the Camel’s glorifying moment was the killing of Manfred von Richtoven, aka the Red Baron. In 1918, a Canadian pilot for the new RAF by the name of Mr. Brown used the sun to blind him, making him an easy target for nearby ground batteries. Even nine decades later, the Camel is still considered a legendary fighter aircraft of the First World War.

Hammonasset State Park

By Grace

I had lots of fun at Hammonasset State Park. We were on the Rocky Shore first. I found and caught Pacific (Grapsid) Crabs. When we went to the Salt Marsh, we ate Glasswort (a type of grass) and we made the ground shake by bouncing in place. The ground was made up of dead plants. That’s what the awful smell was. At the Sandy Beach, we posted signs that marked where the water lines were. There is the water line, the high water line, the highest water line, and the sand dunes. Hammonasset State Park is a cool and fun place to go.

Boa Constrictor

By: Jaden

I’m here to teach you about Boa Constrictors. Boas don’t break their prey’s bones but they do wrap around it in what is called a coil. A boa can do this since a boa’s spine is made with a weird tendon to a slithering movement. Do you remember those old adventure movies with the giant snakes? They are really boas. As you can see I think boas are beautiful loving animals.

My Bad Day

By Andrew

I had the worst day of my life. At recess today I tripped over a tree twig and scraped my knee. When I was walking home it started to pour and my clothes got soaked. When I got inside I stubbed my foot on a wooden chair and bruised my toe. I wish I never have a day like this again!

My Trip to Hammonasett

By Artem

I had a great day when we went to Hammonasett State Park. At the rocky shore we collected crabs. At the salt marsh we bounced to make the ground shake. At the sandy beach we marked the water line, the highest water line and the sand dune. I had a great time at Hammonasett State Park with my class.

The

Best Saturday Ever

By James

At first I woke up at 7:00 and something told me this was going to be a great day. Then I thought ‘’what am I doing awake this early on a weekend’’.  So I went back to sleep. At 8:00 I figured it was time to eat a pancake breakfast with a lot of syrup. So I made myself get out of bed. When I got downstairs I heard my mom say ‘’ok’’ and hang up ‘’we’re going apple picking with Nick’’ (my friend). This already sounded like the best day ever! Then I remembered I had a soccer game! Even better! After a delicious pancake breakfast, I went apple picking and found all the best apples. The best part was when my friend and I got lost in the corn maze. Finally it was time to go to my soccer game. We won fourteen to zero! That was awesome. For the rest of the day I played with my friend but that was not the end of my best Saturday ever. We had a sleepover! This was the best Saturday ever!

The Best Soccer Practice Ever

By: Tyrek

I had a great soccer practice. My team scored four goals because the defense was wandering around being the ref and announcer. During warm-up kids on my team shot the ball at me in the goal. It was my first time in goal. When they shot at me they shot at my stomach and they only scored three times. When we had a scrimmage I scored all four goals, but the only reason I scored 4 goals is because Nick Becker was not there and Gregory Townsend left so we had one more player. I hope to have a soccer game like that again.

The Game

By Hannah

I could not believe that I missed part of the baseball game. It was the sixth inning and I had to go get popcorn with my mom. When we got to the popcorn stand I had to go to the bathroom. Then when we got back it was the seventh inning and they had no popcorn. Next time I go to a game I am not getting up out of my seat.

My Hamburger

Thomas

I liked living in Germany.  We went to the pond and fed the ducks. I helped my dad drive the car through the driveway. I was very excited about visiting a medieval castle. I even visited the dungeon. I’d like to go back some day.

Pancakes

By Jaiden

I like pancakes.  They are cooked in a pan.  The pancakes are made with flour. People eat pancakes at restaurants. Everybody likes pancakes!

THE WORST DAY OF MY LIFE

By Bryce

This was the worst day of my life.  When I was sick I had missed the bus and the field trip to Hamonasit today. When I finally got to school I had lunch in the cafeteria and I spilled my soup all over me and I had to clean it up by myself.  The next day I felt like I was not going to be sick anymore. Then I realized today was the weekend so I took all my friends to Hammonasett and instead of the worst day of my life it turned out to the best day of my life.

Cats

By Roxanne

Cats are small animals. Cats have four legs. Cats have soft fur. Cats have long tails. I like to play with cats!

Hamburger Paragraph

Virginia

I had a very exciting day. A gorilla jumped on my house and for some odd reason it smelled like bananas. A volcano just erupted a half a mile away because of some red hot fire ball candy. I just felt an earthquake and well I don’t know what caused the earthquake. I just love this day.

Tennis Tournament

by Elena

I’ve never had a better Friday then last weekend. I saw the best double team in the world. The stadium was so quiet when the ball went out or the player missed it. You could hear the ball bounce against the court. But the player made an amazing save and the crowd went go wild. That was the best tennis tournament ever and the best Friday ever.
