Somers
Mountain Native American Visit
On the Monday that we got back from our February break, the
Native Americans from Somers Mountain in Massachusetts are
came to our classrooms! The children will learned
traditional songs and used turtle rattles, touched and
experienced uses of animal hide and bones, and made their own
cornhusk doll. All this before lunch! In the
afternoon, the students gathered in the gym to watch the
traditional Penobscot Hoop Dance and listen to creation
stories from different regions of the United States.
An experience to remember!
