"Giving the gift of music to children is when they can sing expressively by themselves".

Your child is participating in a variety of activities in vocal music classes. Every grade level has music two times a week for 30 minutes. This activities in music are sequentially designed to help you child develop melodic and rhythmic skills through singing, reading, writing, creating and enjoying the many different types of music. Singing activities include songs from our American folk tradition, songs from around the world, patriotic songs, holiday songs, folk dances and singing games. Your child will listen to and observe music written in various styles and will become familiar with many kinds of performing soloists and groups.

Many connections are made between music and your child's social studies and language arts units. Making connections allows a child to know that music is not only singing, but has a direct connection with history and culture around the world.

You can reinforce what your child is learning in music in many ways. You can listen to music together, attend concerts and encourage your child to participate in the school performing groups. Ask your child to sing one of their favorite songs for you.

Webster Hill Chorus is offered to all 4th and 5th grade students. Rehearsals are at 7:45 AM on Wednesdays in the auditorium.

You are always welcome to come to the music room!
