Practice Hints

• Find a quiet place. Warm up on slow scales and simple songs, checking yourself for perfect playing position, excellent sound, and excellent intonation (playing in tune).
  

• Check your assignment sheet and practice assignment, repeating trouble spots many times slowly until you can play them perfectly.
  

• Review Band and Orchestra music.
  

• Review songs from previous lessons you like to play!
  

• Mark how many minutes you practiced on your assignment sheet.
  

• Don't forget on the day before your lesson to get a parent to sign it.
  

Student Responsibilities

• Bring instrument, books and music to school for all lessons and rehearsals.
  

• Practice every day.
  

• Attend all lessons and rehearsals on time.
  

Parent Responsibilities

• Make sure that your child has a working instrument and all necessary accessories and books.
  

• Encourage and support daily practice.
  

• Provide transportation to school once a week for ensemble practice, arriving between 7:20 and 7:40 AM.
