THE TALE OF A BROWN TROUT
by Jared
Egg development: “Where am I? What am I? What is
my name? AHHHHHH! WHAT’S HAPPENING TO ME? And why can’t
I see?”
“I will tell you the answer to all of those questions.
You’re in a tank with giants all around you. You’re a
Brown Trout. And you’re name is Bob. We’re being dumped
into a tank in some kind of lab. You can’t see because
you are in the stage egg development.”
“Wait a second. How do you know all of this stuff” “I
know because I hatched early and I am in the stage
embryo."
“I don’t like the snake in the cage next to us. It
really freaks me out.”
“What’s your name?”
“My name is Fred.”
“Fred, cool down. The snake is in a cage and it’s
probably not a water snake.”
“You have got a point. Now I am going to get some rest
under that blue thingy. You will probably see me in
about two weeks.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“What I mean is that you will grow an eye in about tow
weeks.”
“Ohhhh.”
Two weeks later...
Stage embryo: “Hey Fred, look at how fast I have
grown. I’m already an embryo. I skipped the eyed egg
stage!”
“Ya, I am a Parr. You are almost ready to be released. I
am ready to be released.”
“Do you know what I like most about this glass?” “No
what?”
“This pink stuff.”
“Me too. The humans call it insulation. It helps keep
the tank water cold.”
“That is awesome.”
“Wait, I just remembered. It’s 11:00 a.m. That means the
giants from Mr. Hassan’s class are coming to look at us.
We had better go hide.” “O.K. Whatever you say.”

English, and that they heard people talking about
releasing us in one or two weeks when everybody is a

“Me too, see ya.”
