Kate Kappes graduated in 1990 from Hood College (Frederick, Maryland) with a B.A. in Early Childhood Education. In 1999 she earned a masters degree in Remedial Reading and Language Arts from St. Joseph College in West Hartford.

She lives in town with her wonderful husband Bob and their four daughters: Caitlin (16), Siena (13), Ellen (3) and Shannon (2). The Kappes family also has a black Shepherd named Kipling and a quiet cat named Maddie. 

Mrs. Kappes loves the beach, sailing, and speed walking (and will do anything to be near the water), but mostly she enjoys hanging out and doing fun things with her family.
