Congratulations Stock Market Teams! Congratulations to the students who participated in The Stock Market Game™ (SMG) this fall, under direction of Quest teacher Kathy Hardesty and 5th grade teacher Ryan Cleary. The Stock Market Game gives students the chance to invest a hypothetical $100,000 in an on-line portfolio. They think they're playing a game but they are learning economic and financial concepts they'll use for the rest of their lives. Smith School entered the grade 4-6 division, sponsored by the Hartford Courant, and won first place out of 54 teams in the Hartford area!  Three other Smith School teams came in 3rd, 4th and 5th place too.  Students from the winning Smith School team, from Mr. Cleary's class finished the game with over $110,000.  They contribute their winnings to stocks from Google, Apple and Target.   The first, second and third place winners in each division will be recognized by the Hartford Courant on January 15 in the business section.
