Step 1: The student is nominated by the classroom
teacher or any other staff member who thinks the student should
be considered for the screening process. This individual
completes the Teacher Nomination Form and submits it to the QuEST Teacher.
Step 2:
The QuEST teacher will schedule a Nomination Committee meeting. Members of the Nomination Committee
include: Principal, Curriculum Specialist, Nominating Teacher, QuEST Teacher, School Psychologist, and QuEST Program
Coordinator
Step 3: A Nomination Committee meeting is held to determine if the
student is academically gifted. All of the information and
criteria on the Nomination Form is discussed and reviewed. The student's nominating portfolio
contains at a minimum the following: report cards, test scores,
student products, teacher anecdotal notes, and Renzulli's Scale
for Rating Behavioral Characteristics of Superior Students.
Step 4: If the committee agrees that the child meets the criteria,
the child is identified as Gifted.
The parents will be notified of the committee decision and
provided with information about the QuEST Program.
After parent notification, the child will begin receiving
program services.
If the student is not identified as Gifted at this time, he or
she could be nominated and considered for program placement at
another time.
