Rhythm Lines: Students use the Principles of
Design, Rhythm, Movement and Contrast combined with the Elements
of Art, Line, Shape, Form, and Value to create a work of Art.
African Art: Students explore artifacts from Africa
and debate Art vs. Function. Drawing on characteristics of African "Art"
students use nature, abstraction, distortion, pattern, and repetition for their
own personal design. The designs are then carved into a printing
plate, and used to create a series of prints. Then the students subtract
more from their printing plates by carving out more details and then re-print
over their first series.. creating a double print.
Creative Calligraphy: Students write a word by
illustrating the meaning of the word to form each letter. Colored pencils
techniques such as directional marks, shading, layering, burnishing and lifting
were used to make the work more successful.
Perspective: Students create depth using the
rules and measurements of 2 point perspective.
