TEST REVIEW ITEMS FOR October 4

 

Safety/Scientific Method/Lab Procedures

 

The Following Questions or Objectives are all fair game for the test tomorrow:

 

1. Who was Sir Isaac Newton and what major contribution did he make in science?

2. What is our class motto?

3. What is the most important thing a scientist must be familiar with before beginning work in the lab?

4. What are the consequences for breaking the safety rules?

5. Procedures for end of lab clean up.

6. What is the purpose of the scientific method?

7. List and describe (IN ORDER) the six parts of the scientific method we discussed.

8. What is a variable in an experiment?

9. What is the purpose of a control in an experiment?

10. What are independent and dependent variables?

11  Be able to give examples of independent and dependent variables in an experiment.

12. Be familiar with the procedure used in the cold packs laboratory and be able to answer specific questions about the how the chemicals we used affected the results and answered or disproved your hypothesis.

13. Be able to zero out a triple beam balance and properly weigh out material.

14. Be familiar with stating a problem, finding independent and dependent variables, and forming a hypothesis when given a hypothetical experiment to perform.
