Sedgwick's Student Council members have been hard at
work this year on many projects. They are tackling the
issue of recycling in our school by making posters that
encourage students to recycle their cans and milk
cartons at lunch. Students have taken the issue of
recycling home with them and brought in thirty-three
pairs of sneakers for recycling to date. These sneakers
will be given new life as they are made into rubberized
tracks and playground surfaces. The aluminum tab tops
students continue to bring in will benefit programs and
research at Shriner's Hospital in Boston by being sold
and recycled as scrap metal.
Students have been hard at work on other programs
that will benefit the Sedgwick community as well. The
eighth grade class of 2008 has begun to raise money for
an eighth grade class gift. Proceeds from Box Tops for
Education will allow Student Council to continue with
many of its projects. Campbell's Labels for Education
are also being collected to help earn free educational
materials that will benefit students throughout the
school. The sneaker recycling, aluminum tab top, Box
Tops for Education, and Campbell's Labels for Education
are projects that will run the entire school year. Thank
you for your continued support! If you would like to
help with any of these projects, feel free to contact
us.
