Dear Parents:

During the years of puberty, our children have many questions concerning their own growth and development and that of their friends.

It is important for our children to have an accurate source of information, so that they do not have to rely on friends - who may be misinformed or confused.

As an integrated part of the Science and Health curricula at Morley, a unit on Human Growth and Development will be introduced to fifth grade classes beginning the week of May 7.  This unit will be taught by the 5th Grade team.  During this time, we will have five health lessons and discussions focusing on puberty, and the male and female reproductive systems.  A time for the students to ask questions will be a part of this unit and booklets will be sent home with each student.

It is important to use accurate terminology in discussions with your child.  This can be helpful both to you and your child as you talk about each day's lesson.  We encourage you to ask questions of your child at home.

If you have any further questions regarding this most important period in your child's life, please feel free to call me or Mrs. Zajack at any time.

Sincerely,
