Special Events for October Nature's Classroom awaits our fifth graders at Camp Jewel in Colebrook, CT. for a four day study-visit.
Special Events for November  Student Council voting takes place at this time to mirror our national elections.

Our first report cards coincide with Parent Conferences, with a opportunity for parents to meet with their child's teacher.

The Library hosts its annual Book Fair.

Special Events for December This is Duffy's Poetry Month, with students reading either selections of their own creation, or long time favorites, each morning to the school audience over the intercom, and publishing them in our weekly newsletter.

The Winter Concert showcases the talents of our budding musicians in the strings, band and chorus.

Special Events for January The annual National Geographic Geography Bee tests the knowledge of our fourth and fifth graders.

The Star Lab portable planetarium brings the night sky to every Duffy student.

Special Events for February  Mid-term assessments fill our calendar in these weeks, relieved by a week long vacation in the middle of the month.

We begin to plan for Kindergarten for the next school year by having Kindergarten Orientation for parents and Kindergarten Child Study where future students meet their teachers to be.

A week long vacation occurs in the middle of the month.

Special Events for May

Our Spring Concert and Art Show displays the talents of our students.  The students in our Inter-Elementary Musical groups perform at the Bushnell in Hartford.

Class Field Days begin this month as well.

Special Events for June

The fifth grade have their special events which they have eagerly been awaiting all year with Class Day and Fun Day, and a special day to give out our new Yearbooks.

The Duffy Fair is a huge community event sponsored by our wonderful PTO.  We end our school year (the date depends on the amount of snow days that we have to make up) with our traditional Dance-A-Thon.
