Highlights
of April in Spain
We leave West Hartford on Friday afternoon. Our overnight
flight arrives Saturday morning in Madrid. Then it's a week on the move
exploring Madrid, Córdoba and Granada. The following Saturday finds us saying
adiós to Madrid and arriving in West Hartford with a full day to recover
before returning to classes. Highlights of our trip (subject to change) include:
 | Madrid - We’ll visit Spain’s vibrant capital,
checking out the famous art museums housing Picasso's Guernica, and other
masterpieces by Velázquez, Goya, Dalí, and Miró. We’ll also visit the
Rastro, a Sunday morning open air market, and the historic neighborhoods,
including the Royal palace and the Plaza Mayor. |
 | Córdoba – We’ll head south on the AVE, Spain’s
bullet train to this beautiful city in where we’ll visit the sights
including the famous mosque and Jewish quarter. |
 | Granada – We’ll also spend a few days in this
hot spot among tourist cities in Spain, visiting the
Alhambra, a Moorish citadel and palace, one of the most famous items of the
Muslim, Jewish, and Christian historical legacy on the peninsula. |
 | Santa María del Pilar - Participants will spend
Friday afternoon with a student from our sister school visiting classes and
then experiencing a typical Friday afternoon with new-found amigos. |
 | Gastronomía - Throughout the week we will be
dining in traditional and modern restaurants, sampling tapas, paella,
nouveau cuisine, and even cucina italiana. |
 | Compras - From the large national chain
department store, El Corte Inglés, and the trendy shops and boutiques to the
classic tourist stands, participants will have the opportunity to separate
themselves from their euros.
|
 | Etcétera - As always, our itinerary may vary
according to weather, special events we discover, availability and security
concerns. Students should plan on being flexible. |
