As part of study of health, students will learn about the importance of healthy eating and exercise. Students will also learn about personal hygiene and basic information about substance abuse. The ongoing Second Step Program is a tool utilized for helping students to experience and practice empathy, impulse control, problem solving, and anger management skills.

 

 

In second grade students will gain knowledge to apply basic math facts and work to become problem solvers. 

This year, students will become immersed in reading and writing. Through our reading anthology, guided reading groups, and literacy centers students will develop the skills and confidence to become lifelong readers. Through the writing process students will be exposed to different genres of literature as model text for their own writing.

 

 

Maps: Throughout the year students will learn to understand what maps are and how to read and use them. We create both two and three dimensional maps as parts of many of our Social Studies units.
