School Policies

Children in grades 3, 4, & 5 are allowed to ride bicycles to school with their parent's permission. Riding a bicycle to school is left to the discretion of the parent or guardian. Since the school can assume no responsibility for lost or stolen bicycles, it is essential that bicycles be locked in the racks provided. It is also important that students on bicycles review carefully all bicycle safety rules. Bicycle riding is not permitted on the school property between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Bicycles must be walked on the school ground. Children under 12 must wear helmets as mandated by Connecticut State Law.

Town wide policy states that if a child is well enough to come to school, then the child will participate in all school activities. This includes recess. We will adhere to this policy unless your child has a written note from his/her physician requesting indoor recess. Therefore, please make sure your child comes to school prepared for the weather - hats, mittens, boots, snow pants, etc. In the event of inclement weather, outdoor recess will be canceled.

 THE MORLEY CODE OF CONDUCT

The Morley Belief Statement aims to develop "rights with corresponding responsibilities in both learning and behavior…, respecting self, others and property". These statements are the essential elements in a student code of conduct which emphasizes: expectations, responsibilities, and rewards. All students are expected to demonstrate a positive attitude toward school and learning. Instructional time is valuable; interruptions are not acceptable. Physical contact, swearing, or fighting are never allowed.
