Paths to Knighthood (Take the Fourth Grade Challenge!)
n Teachers are constantly challenged to find new methods to encourage students to achieve. The fourth grade team has developed a motivational program incorporating their Medieval Unit in Social Studies. Each student in fourth grade has the opportunity to achieve the status of “Knight” or “Dame” by meeting five objectives in a subject.
n Once a student meets the requirements in a particular subject, he or she is “knighted” at a special ceremony during our Forth Grade Connection. The candidate wears a red cape and walks down the white carpet, where he or she kneels before a teacher who dubs the student with the honor of knighthood by using the “Branch of Learning”.
n
Students
can be knighted in one or more of the six subjects: Literature, Writing, Math
Facts, Spelling, Geography, and Science
