Dancing in the gym!
Gymnastics in the gym!
The students are exploring traditional and educational gymnastic equipment in order to move through a series of guided experiences. These experiences allow for divergent responses, which meet the individual developmental levels of the children. The major concepts are body (what the body does), space (where the body moves), effort (how the body moves), and relationships (how the body moves in relationship to others and its environment).
Yoga in the gym!
All of the students at Morley School had a chance to experience Yoga in Physical Education class, thanks to the PTO.The children explored a different way to strengthen and stretch their bodies through Yoga / animal poses (ex. downward dog, cat and cow, lion, etc.) while always maintaining control of their breathing and focus of their bodies position. The poses were then used to tell stories about traveling through the jungle and swimming in the ocean. See if you can name some of the poses that you have explored in class.
