Quest Students Dig-Up Conflict
Quest students have been using the National History Day theme, conflict and compromise in history to guide their research projects, this year. Dozens of topics have been explored by middle school Quest students at Bristow, KP, and Sedgwick for their significance and impact in history from the Crusades to the American Jazz Era. In collaboration with the Social Studies Department's at both Hall and Conard we have organized a West Hartford History Day Competition. The date has been set for Wednesday evening, March 19, at Bristow Middle School. Judging will take place from 3:00-5:00 and a celebratory event with families from 6:30-7:30. The date gives students the opportunity to utilize in-house judging to improve projects before the regional competition at Manchester High School, on Saturday, March 29, 2008.

Morning Student Drop Off:

In an effort to make morning drop off time more safe for students and staff, we tried to first shut down all traffic coming on to school property other than staff. After watching the traffic flow for one week, we have made an adjustment to the original plan.  Parents are still encouraged to drop off at curb side, however, the following change to the original policy has been made to ease concerns:

  • Parents will be allowed to enter the front driveway and use the outer drop off area only.

  • Parents transporting children on crutches, with casts, in wheelchairs, etc. will be allowed to enter the inner circle once they inform security of their needs.

  • No one else will be allowed into the circle by the front doors as there have been issues with compliance to traffic control signs on school property and directions from security staff.

  • Teachers and staff with the pink passes will be allowed to use the bus lane at times for easier access to the parking lot when there are no buses in the lane. Please stop for the stop sign before making the right turn into the parking lot.

Thank you for your cooperation,
The King Philip Administration and Security
