THE SCHOOL

King Philip Middle School is a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence that serves
approximately 1,000 students in grades six through eight. King Philip
embraces the middle school model by incorporating students into academic teams.
The team concept fosters the delivery of integrated units of study, enhances
communication between teachers and parents, and promotes peer affiliations
amongst students.
King Philip Middle School employs approximately 88 teachers,
74% whom hold a postgraduate degree. King Philip's teachers use a variety
of instructional methodologies to accommodate the multiple learning styles and
interests of their students. They understand the developmental needs of
adolescents and strive to nurture their academic, social and emotional growth.
The King Philip faculty is committed to the school goals of embedding literacy
strategies, incorporating study skills, and infusing technology into all areas
of the teaching and learning process. Through cornerstone assessments,
high expectations and differentiated instruction, student performance is
maximized.
A rich unified arts program and countless extracurricular clubs and
activities provide opportunities for student involvement in the school community
and reflect the staff's commitment to the students they serve. An active
and supportive PTO works collaboratively with staff members to support school
initiatives that enhance learning. Together, parents and teachers
contribute to the success of King Philip Middle School
