Occupational Therapy and Services for the Hearing Impaired

The program Occupation Therapy is provided to mandated students.  It provides supportive and therapeutic services as well as assistance through mechanized means to students with varied physical and large and fine motor disabilities.  It also includes supportive services to regular classroom teachers.

The teachers of the deaf and hearing impaired provide services to hearing impaired students.  Services include intense language-based instruction, lip-reading, sign language, interpreting, specialized pre-teaching and post-teaching, counseling and consultation with parents and regular classroom teachers.  Additional services also include the monitoring and maintenance of audiological equipment and consultation with audiologists and interpreters.

Teachers of the hearing impaired provide direct service to students in our schools.  Service is also available to students in regionally-centered programs on a consultative basis.  Occupational therapy, evaluations and consultations are provided to students, both individually and in groups.
