UConn Early College Experience (ECE) Registration
Is your student enrolled in an UConn Early College Experience (ECE) course for next year? You will receive a mailing home in the beginning of May for registration information for earning UConn credit. ECE applications are due to UConn by June 1st.
Courses include Advanced Literature 21st Century, AP Biology, AP Calculus BC, AP Chinese Language & Culture, Discrete Math, AP Economics, AP English Literature, AP Environmental Science, Human Rights, Individual Family Development, AP Physics I, AP Physics I & II, AP Spanish Language & Culture, AP Statistics, and Women’s Literature.
The schedule of courses for next year is being developed. A preliminary schedule will be given to your student before the end of the school year. Any errors should be reported to your student’s school counselor immediately. Your student’s final schedule, with teachers, will be mailed home in August. If there is an error on the final schedule, students should email their school counselor directly prior to the first day of school. Please note that counselors will not be in their offices to respond to schedule concerns until the end of August.
If you are considering summer school for your student for either credit recovery or to “get ahead” for next year, please consult with your student’s School Counselor. More information about courses offered can be found by visiting whlifelearn.org. Click on “K-12 Programs.” Courses run from late June until early August. (6/26-7/14 First Semester, 7/17-8/3 Second Semester) Please contact your student’s school counselor if you have any questions.
Junior Workshops have now concluded. Students should have completed the majority of their Common Application in addition to updating their resumes and brag sheets. Students should also be familiar with the college search features on Naviance for determining reach, realistic/target, and likely schools. It’s also important to note that each college’s website provides a “Net Price Calculator” for determining costs associated with each school. Summer is a great time to research and begin your applications, including the college essay.

School counselors are in the process of meeting with each senior to finalize their post-high school plans. It is important for students to inform their school counselor of their final decision so the counseling office can send the student’s final transcript once available. Please see your school counselor if you have any questions.
