As you know, the construction crews began to arrive last week and here is what they have accomplished:
Installed perimeter security fence around phase 1 of the construction site
Installed erosion control fence, the black fabric with the wood stakes, to contain any potential soil run-off from the site into the local waterways.
Removed some snow from the site
Removed one tree to create the main construction entrance off of Flatbush Avenue
BOE crews are removing the remaining playground equipment for use as replacement parts at other schools along with the flag pole to be placed near the temporary playground as weather permits
I have attached a picture taken this morning with a view from the roof - not much to see so far but I will try to include a picture weekly to show the progress.
The scope of intended work over the next few weeks includes establishing the construction trailers near the intersections of Oakwood and Flatbush Avenues and to begin relocating the utilities that serve the existing school. Specific tasks include:
Removal of additional trees
Installing water, sewer and electricity utilities for the construction trailers which will require trenching into Flatbush Avenue and will be dos so that it does not interfere with school drop-off and pick-up
Delivery and installation of the construction trailers
Establish temporary and permanent water service from Sidney Ave, this will require trenching into the roadway and will be done so that it does not interfere with school drop-off and pick-up
Relocation of the sanitary sewer line and the storm water drain line in the front of the existing building. This will require construction crews to be working in very close proximity to the existing building and there will be an extra focus on safety.
As a general note, construction crews may be working into the early evening hours in order to accomplish some of this work in order to minimize disturbing the school day.
