Rodrigo G.- Senior at Conard will play Soccer at Central Conn. State University.  Earned All Conference honors. 

Randa G.- Senior at Conard HS will run cross country and track at Merrimack College.  Received All Conference honors in cross country.

Liz L.- Senior at Conard HS has signed a Letter of Intent to run cross country and track at UConn. Liz was chosen the CIAC Scholar Athlete for Conard.  Liz received All State honors in cross country and track.

Ben M.- Senior at Conard will run cross country and track at Trinity.  Earned All Conference honors in cross country.  Ben was chosen as the CIAC Scholar Athlete for Conard.

Will S.- Senior at Conard will play lacrosse at Trinity College.  Earned All Conference honors. 

Matheus S. – Senior at Conard HS will play soccer at UConn.  Matheus received All State, All New England and All American honors in soccer this year. 

Rose S.– Senior at Conard HS will play lacrosse at SCSU. 

Max V.– Senior at Conard will play baseball for Bowdoin.  Earned All Conference honors in baseball.

Shea W.- Senior at Conard HS will run cross country and track at Fordham University.  Has earned All Conference and All State honors in cross country.

Conard Captains Leadership Seminar

March 7th at Conard High School

 

Approaching the beginning ofthe spring sports season, Hall and Conard High School held their annual Captains Leadership Seminar. Captains from each school gathered for a work shop to discuss issues and concerns that high school athletes encounter during their sport seasons. During each session the athletes were provided with building tools and strategies for their teams to help ensure a successful spring season. 

 

The seminar was set up with a lecture presentation emphasizing topics of team culture, commitment continuum,team building, hazing, drugs and alcohol, and social media. Among the captains,facilitators were chosen to lead small group discussions and recount the material back to the whole group. A full team building exercise was initiated and completed successfully by all of the captains.

West Hartford AthleticDepartment hosts NCAA Recruiting Night

 

West Hartford Public Schools Athletic Department, in conjunction with the Guidance Department, held an NCAA Recruiting Night on Wednesday, March 13, 2013. This event was held at 7-9 p.m at William H. Hall High School Gymnasium.

The NCAApanel was designed to address issues concerning the new NCAA eligibility andrecruiting rules for each level. Coaches represented all three divisions and aDivision I compliance officer as participants of the panel. A question andanswer session followed the panel presentation for all of the onlookers. About100 student-athletes, parents, and coaches of the West Hartford community were inattendance,

Congratulations to Coach Rob Cersosimo

Every year, The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame Northern Chapter pays tribute to a select few with awards of excellence for exhibiting superior qualities of scholarship, citizenship and leadership. Additionally, the Foundation also recognizes individuals who demonstrate outstanding support for the NFF and its mission of promoting the game of amateur football.

Seven U.S. Presidents, countless military, business and community leaders, and hundreds of football officials and scholar-athletes from all levels are among those who have received these much acclaimed awards. Annually at the local level, the 120 chapters of The National Football Foundation honor over 3,000 high school scholar-athletes and community leaders with scholarships and awards.

This year Conard Head Football Coach Rob Cersosimo has been selected by the National Football Foundation Northern Chapter to receive the Distinquished American Award.  This award is given to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the betterment of amateur football in the U.S.. This is also the first time a head coach has ever been given this prestigious award.  Rob has been the Head Football at Conard High School for the past 28 years.  Rob will receive this award at the National Football Foundation Awards Dinner on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington.  Rob was also inducted into the Connecticut High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame in November.

A 35 year old swim record was broken at the Hall vs Conard Swim meet on Tuesday, Feb. 14th. The Boys 200 yard Medley Relay record was broken.
